Current production Rounded Detent made with 6061 Aluminum. It is offered as a softer alternative to 316 stainless steel detents used in Super Safety systems. Because 6061 aluminum is significantly softer, this super safety detent helps reduce wear and pitting in selector channels by allowing the detent to absorb wear instead of the channel itself.
The tradeoff is faster detent wear compared to 316 stainless steel. Pitting in selector channels typically begins around 6,000–7,000 rounds but does not create noticeable functional issues. This makes the 6061 aluminum super safety detent a preferred option for users focused on preserving selector channel condition over long-term use.
